I wish I could hack, but I also wish I never go to prison, so maybe it’s good I can’t hack. But hacking is the thing right now. It’s THE thing. The thing that is like when people learned how to be doctors in medieval times and everyone thought they were amazing like Gods to be able to do such amazing witchcraft like tell you to eat an orange to cure a cold. Although maybe they didn’t have oranges then and maybe they did actually think doctors were witches and burned them. No-one’s burning hackers now though, we just read about when they’ve just stolen a trillion squadillion quid, or when they’ve just hacked Putin’s spreadsheet of people to poison.
As prone to chaos as hackers can make things, perhaps they are the chaos needed in a world slowly tightening controls on our lives. Perhaps they are the Batmens and Batwomens we all need but more Mac Terminal based. So I say to you, hackers who fight for good, keep SSHing for all of of our safety. You are the heroes I.T needs sometimes but not all the time because it gets a but much, you know?
