I would love to know what tools you use to create your digital art. It would be even better if they were free.
Hey! I agree with Juliette. Autodesk Sketchbook is really good for starting. I also use Krita and it’s really good once you get the hang of it, I even made some simple animations with it 🙂
I like the idea of making animations. That would be a really interesting goal to work towards! So Krita is the one you would recommend for making animations? 🙂
hmmm Krita is not specific for animations so the tool is still very basic. You can make simple frame by frame animations so I use it for that. If you want to animate more complex stuff I’d recommend Blender, it’s a bit complicated to learn at the beginning but once you get the hang of it it’s a very good tool and there are a gazillion tutorials out there. You can do 2D and 3D animation with it as well as editing normal videos.
Thanks for this! I might start with the more basic one first and just get the hang of it. I don’t think I am looking to do anything too complicated at the moment at least, especially not 3D. But it sounds like this would be a cool to use if I wanted to make more detailed animations! So thank you 🙂
I agree with Zapandilla. Krita and Procreate are for really basic animations like little gifs. I personally use TVPaint or Animate CC to create bigger animations. Of course, they are expensive so that is always a bummer.
Thanks so much! I will take a look at TVPaint and Animate CC and see if they look good for what I am thinking of. Sometimes you can get trials etc for paid products, so it gives you a chance to try it out before committing which is great if they are a little expensive.
Hi! Great apps that I love for digital art are Photoshop, Sketchbook and Procreate. Of course, Photoshop is expensive so I don’t really use it outside of school. Procreate is only 13,99$ CAD so it is not that expensive but if you don’t like it it’s kind of disappointing to have paid for it. There is Sketchbook which is 100% free and really user-friendly. I also know Krita that is free but I never used it and I think you can only download it on a computer, but I am not sure. Hope this helps!
Thats so much this advice is really helpful 🙂 Procreate is the one I am most familiar with but it is just on iOS (I think) which is a real shame.
I will take a look at your other recommendations. Thank you so much.
These are some great suggestions. I’ve never heard of Krita before so I might check that one out. I like to test out everything before committing to one. Which is easier to do if they are free!
Well a free tool I could think of is Ibispaint x. I use it personally and it works well since it comes with a lot of brushes, backgrounds, and you could even import qr brush codes which u could find in Pinterest and in the app in the online gallery. It even has a built in recording system If want something similar to Procreate then u should use Huion Sketch. I hope this could help you 🙂
Krita on computer, IbispaintX on my samsung tablet ^_^
Ooo thank you for the feedback. These sound like great recommendations. I will make sure to take a look!
Heyy. I use a Wacom Intuos tablet that connects to my laptop which only costs $100 but it doesn’t draw directly on the screen so it’s a bit harder to draw and you need to have good eye-hand coordination. I also use Medibang Paint Pro which can be downloaded for free.
Ohhh I’d really love a Wacom Intuos tablet, or just any of those tablets. They would be a great way to start drawing. I might have to ask this question separately because I don’t even own a tablet, e.g. iPad. So it better to get one of these (which I guess is cheaper) or go for a full on tablet which probably costs $700 and then the co-ordination between hand and eye is a little easier.
